Oxford Instruments offer a large variety of coaxial wiring for RF signals.
All our systems can accept coaxial wiring with either thermal clamps, provided for all line-of-sight ports, or embedded into the plates on a secondary insert. Both options have excellent thermalisation of the signal lines.
Coaxial wiring can either be fitted in the factory with the system, or can be purchased separately, or as an upgrade to your current system. Where you are purchasing as an upgrade to a previous system, a sales order number for that system is required.
Our semi-rigid coaxial lines are available with SMA connectors (up to 18 GHz) and SK (2.92 mm) connectors (up to 40 GHz).
There are a range of material options available (inner/outer conductors): Stainless steel SS/SS, Cupronickel CuNi/CuNi, Beryllium copper BeCu/BeCu, Niobium titanium NbTi/NbTi (for the superconducting lines below 4 K). Other conductor materials are available on request.
The semi-rigid coax is available in UT085 (2.19 mm) or UT034 (0.86 mm).
Our cryogenic attenuators are available in 0, 6, 8, 10, 20, 25 and 30 dB values.
NEW! Our latest coaxial configuration uses cryogenic adaptenuators, reducing the amount of connections in the signal line. By using a cryogenic adaptenuator, there is one less connection, reducing the losses of your signal. The attenuator body is thermalised directly to the line-of-sight port plate or the SI plate.
Our semi-rigid coax is available in sticks ready to be inserted into line-of-sight (LOS) ports, fitted directly onto customised secondary inserts or available to purchase as single lines, connectors and attenuators.

Upgrades also available on Triton and TritonXL systems!
Our HD coax solution is currently available in UT047 (1.19 mm) semi rigid coaxial lines with SMP connectors up to 18 GHz.
Up to 36 lines in one KF50 line-of-sight port, the HD coax stick can be adapted to larger line-of-sight ports, or can be added to a customised secondary insert.
There are a range of material options available (inner/outer conductors): Stainless steel SS/SS, Niobium titanium NbTi/NbTi (for the superconducting lines below 4 K). Other conductor materials are available on request.
Our attenuators are available in 0, 6, 10 and 20 dB values.

Where high frequency, filtered wiring is required, Thermocoax can be supplied on Proteox systems from room temperature to the mixing chamber, thermalised at each stage with gold plated copper clamps to the outer conductor of the coax.
The coaxial cable assembly is one continuous cable from room temperature to the sample stage terminating in SMA connectors at room temperature and at the sample stage.
The Thermocoax can be supplied in sets of 12 or 22 lines in our non line-of-sight KF50 ports.
Upgrades also available on Triton and TritonXL systems!
For flexible coaxial wiring, for DC or low frequency, S1 flexible coax can be provided.
The coaxial cable assembly is one continuous cable from room temperature to the sample stage terminating in SMA connectors at room temperature and SSMC connectors at the sample stage. S1 flexible coax has a diameter of 1 mm, an insulated PTFE jacket, braided stainless-steel outside connector and stranded stainless-steel inside connector.

S1 coax is compatible with multiple systems:
Proteox family – Supplied in sets of 12 or 22 lines in one non line-of-sight KF50 port, thermalised at each stage with gold plated copper clamps. Adding a break at one of the stages is available upon request. Terminating the S1 coaxial cables into a 25 way cinch connector is available upon request (for DC use).
KelvinoxMX – Supplied in sets of 2 or 4 coaxial lines.
KevlinoxHA – Up to 2 coaxial lines.
KelvinoxJT – Up to 2 coaxial lines.
KelvinoxTLM – Supplied in sets of 4 coaxial lines in one line-of-sight access tube with the cable left unterminated at the sample region.

Ideal for a multi-user or multi-experiment setting. Side loading Secondary Inserts (SIs) can be exchanged between Proteox systems enabling experiments to be set up on a workbench prior to exchange. As the wiring can be done offline, the Proteox can be running with one SI and experimental setup inside the system with another being wired up and configured ready to be exchanged when the system is warm. This reduces the time between cool downs when changing significant wiring on the system or when changing experimental setups in a multi-user facility.
Secondary Inserts can be fully customised to suit a user application or you can choose one of the two standard options:
ISO100-2 – A Secondary Insert with 2 × ISO100 ports, for line-of-sight coaxial wiring. Each line-of-sight port can take up to 37 UT085/UT034 SMA coaxial lines.
Sample exchange – A Secondary Insert for fast sample exchange with a bottom loader. Alongside the sample docking station for the sample puck, there is space for up to 28 coaxial lines, fitted directly into the Secondary Insert and space for four DC looms, thermalised at each plate.
Customised Secondary Insert – The 117 × 252 mm plate space can be a fully customisable solution to fit experimental wiring and components specific to each customer. A designated engineer will work with the design team and customer to ensure the customer is happy with the design. A custom Secondary Insert could be ready to run on system arrival by incorporating cold electronics such as circulators and amplifiers, directly during manufacture. All mounted hardware and components are factory installed, or can be installed by the end user, if the components are defined.
The Secondary Inserts can be delivered prior to system arrival for customer testing and configuration, to reduce the time between installation and first experimental data acquisition.
Secondary Inserts can also be purchased in the future to upgrade your system wiring and are compatible across the ProteoxMX and LX models.
For users wishing to install or remove secondary inserts from a Proteox system, a lifting solution is available from Oxford Instruments to enable this procedure to be performed safely. The SI lift adapter couples to a commercially available lift. The lift can also be fitted with an adapter for handling the tailset sections and the superconducting magnet.
Visit the Secondary Insert page!A variety of Low Noise Factory components can be purchased either separately to add to your existing product or integrated into one of our customised secondary inserts for the Proteox product range. These components can be integrated in line to maximise space for coaxial lines.
Brackets mounting up to four components in line are available and custom brackets to suit the customer configuration are available upon request.
