Purchase of Oxford Instruments NanoScience by Quantum Design

On 10 June, 2025 we announced an exciting new chapter in Oxford Instruments NanoScience’s history, as Quantum Design and Oxford Instruments plc have signed a binding agreement for Quantum Design’s purchase of the NanoScience business, subject to final completion. This represents a paradigm shift in the cryogenic measurement and quantum technologies market, with these two leaders in their respective areas coming together to drive new levels in innovation and customer experience. Together we will create a leading company in advanced cryogenics and quantum research instrumentation.

Quantum Design’s business, products, and global structure are strongly complementary to those of NanoScience, and there are many positive synergies in this move from which our total customer base will benefit. NanoScience will continue to serve our customers through the transition and beyond as a valued long-term partner within the Quantum Design family. We will remain at our Tubney Woods factory in the UK, meaning that our customers can have full confidence in our continuity of operations and support. NanoScience global Sales and Service personnel remain in place to respond to all our customers’ needs.
