Secondary Inserts for Proteox

Oxford Instruments offers both standard and fully customisable Secondary Inserts for the Proteox family. These are compatible across the ProteoxMX and ProteoxLX systems. These can either be fitted in the factory with the system, or can be purchased separately, or as an upgrade to your current system.

Ideal for a multi-user or multi-experiment setting. Side loading Secondary Inserts (SIs) can be exchanged between Proteox systems enabling experiments to be set up on a workbench prior to exchange. As the wiring can be done offline, the Proteox can be running with one SI and experimental setup inside the system with another being wired up and configured ready to be exchanged when the system is warm. This reduces the time between cool downs when changing significant wiring on the system or when changing experimental setups in a multi-user facility.

The Secondary Inserts can be delivered prior to system arrival for customer testing and configuration, to reduce the time between installation and first experimental data acquisition.Secondary Inserts can also be purchased in the future to upgrade your system wiring and are compatible across the ProteoxMX and ProteoxLX models.

For users wishing to install or remove secondary inserts from a Proteox system, a lifting solution is available from Oxford Instruments to enable this procedure to be performed safely. The SI lift adapter couples to a commercially available lift. The lift can also be fitted with an adapter for handling the tailset sections and the superconducting magnet.

Options

A Secondary Insert with 2 × ISO100 ports, for line-of-sight coaxial wiring

The blank SI comes with cover plates as standard, with customer-specified coaxial lines, attenuators and wiring hardware kits chosen separately.

Each line-of-sight port can take up to 37 × UT085/UT034 SMA coaxial lines.

The large line-of-sight area leaves space for future purchase of coaxial lines, if one ISO100 port is enough wiring for the current application.

A Secondary Insert for fast sample exchange with a cold finger assembly to suit the 60 mm sample exchange puck.

The bottom loader SI comes with:

  • 1 × ISO100 line-of-sight port fitted with cover plates as standard
  • 22 × SMA hermetic fittings
  • 4 × 24 way Fischer connectors for DC looms
  • Cold finger interface terminating in 22 × SMP connectors and 2 × 51 way Nano-D connectors for DC wiring
  • UT47 silver plated coaxial lines from mixing chamber to docking interface.

Customer-specified coaxial lines, attenuators and wiring hardware kits chosen separately.

The ISO100 line-of-sight port leaves space for up to 37 × UT085/UT034 coaxial lines, either with the order of the SI or in the future as an upgrade, for maximum modularity and upgradability.

Our patented sample exchange solution offers customers a cooling power of 150 µW at 100 mK and a base temperature of < 12 mK.

A Secondary Insert for fast sample exchange with a cold finger assembly to suit the 72 mm sample exchange puck.

The bottom loader SI comes with:

  • 1 × ISO100 line-of-sight port fitted with cover plates as standard
  • 28 × SMA hermetic fittings
  • 4 × 24 way Fischer connectors for DC looms
  • Cold finger interface terminating in 28 × SMP connectors and 2 × 51 way Nano-D connectors for DC wiring
  • UT47 silver plated coaxial lines from mixing chamber to docking interface.

Utilise a custom Secondary Insert for an optimised experiment, ready to run on system arrival by incorporating cold electronics such as circulators and amplifiers, directly during manufacture.

The custom Secondary Insert is also ideal for a multi-user-experiment setting, or future-proofing the system by allowing simple exchange to alternative configurations.

  • Components mounted directly onto the Secondary Insert
  • Component bracketry factory-installed
  • Amplifiers and isolators mounted in-line with coaxial cables for maximum space utilisation
  • Full 117 × 252 mm line-of-sight access for customer configuration.
