Rapid Sample Exchange Pucks

Pucks for the Proteox high-performance patented bottom loader

Oxford Instruments offer a variety of sample pucks for the Proteox family of dilution refrigerators.

Our patented bottom loader and active gas gap heat switch technology enable fast sample turnaround times with sample puck cooldown times in less than 8 hours, particularly suited to magnet systems and for qubit screening.

For the ProteoxMX, the sample loader is integrated onto a Secondary Insert, including hermetic feedthroughs and thermalisation hardware for provision of experimental wiring.

Cooling power 150 µW at 100 mK Base temperature < 12 mK.

Ideal for a multi-user or multi-experiment setting.

Each user or group can have a puck for their experiment or fit multiple devices within one puck taking advantage of the large capacity of wiring.

Wiring and testing can be done offline with the Proteox running with one puck inside the system with another being wired up and configured ready to be exchanged, reducing the time between experimental results.

The pucks can be purchased with a system or as upgrades to installed systems that have sample exchange.

Improved sample throughput with our bottom loading mechanism which enables changing of samples with the system cold. No need to warm the system up to remove shields between experiments. The software automated cooldown takes only 8 hours for the largest puck size.

Make-before-break connection. Vacuum lock with integrated grounding wires ensures the sample can be biased/grounded for ESD protection during the loading process.

12 mK sample temperature. Our unique combination of a high-force pressed contact, spring-loaded radiation baffles and removable loading arm results in market leading thermal performance.

Early sample screening at intermediate temperatures with our patented loading method which enables samples to connect with the experimental wires within 15 minutes. No need to wait for tedious pre-cooling to find out if the sample is good enough for the experiment.

Proven reliability and noise integrity with more than 150 sample loaders installed. Optimized geometry for reduced eddy-current heating and careful EMI shielding makes the puck suitable for the most demanding applications, including low-noise electron transport, magneto-optical, spintronics and quantum computing.

Extensive connectivity with integrated wiring looms for easy compatibility with customer PCB. Up to 28 RF lines and 96 DC connections provided as standard. Optimized sample space to suit a range of magnet bore sizes and multiple anchoring points for integrating third-party rotators, positioners and filtered sample holders.
