Discovery Work Experience Programme 2016

In 2016, we launched our  ‘Discovery Work Experience Programme’ that took place from 20th to 24th June 2016 at Oxford Instruments' Tubney Woods site.

The design of the 2016 programme included exposures to both the Industrial Analysis and the NanoScience businesses at the Tubney Woods site or GCSE and A Level students.  Learning activities included a blend of classroom style briefings, practicals, presentations and work, across a range of functional disciplines. These not only helped them to have an understanding of our product portfolio, technologies and our customers, but also helped in developing soft skills such team building, branding and commercial awareness.

Feedback from participants of 2016 programme:

"The work experience program at Oxford Instruments was by far the most enriching scientific experience I have had. The week encompassed both the research and business aspects of the company, and whilst we learnt about the different roles and jobs, our education was also supplemented with heaps of scientific knowledge to aid our understanding."

"Oxford Instruments helped inspire the future generation of engineers."

"My week at Oxford Instruments has been very interesting, informative, and also a lot of fun, I’ve enjoyed exploring the science behind the machines, and have also learnt a great deal about the world of work during the course of the week, which I’m sure will be of great use to me in the future."

"I would like to thank Oxford Instruments for their time and hospitality, I am very grateful for this experience."
